Welcome to TechSMB, a web-based resource created to provide relevant and helpful information for small business owners, written by industry veterans and other business owners just like you.
The content provided by this website will aim to help answer the questions of small business owners, with a focus on technology. We decided to do this in a blog format to hopefully foster social connectedness and close communication with small business peers across Canada.
We haven’t yet finalized our editorial calendar, but coming soon we’ll have valuable content about:
- The challenges that arise when smaller companies secure business with larger organizations. We’ll share our experiences with you to help your business steer clear of pitfalls and maximize profits when working with customers much larger than you.
- Canadian companies of various sizes (especially startups) recovering thousands of dollars a year by participating in the Canadian government’s SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) program.
- New marketing, communication and social media tools and whether your company would benefit from having a blog, Facebook or Twitter account and how NOT having one could be affecting your business.
- Picking a phone system that won’t break the bank, but has the enterprise features you need today and the expandability to keep up with your company’s future growth.
- Tutorials for today’s popular software applications. From designing templates in Microsoft Word to unlocking the power of Excel and tips and tricks to using PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and more. We’ll provide step-by-step instructions to help you get your work done faster and with impressive results.
- Upcoming events and programs for small business, including social networking events hosted by TechSMB.
This website is written entirely by part time contributors, intimately familiar and currently working in the small business sector or with small business. The value of this website comes from this diverse and talented group of individuals.

This is a really great idea. I am most interested in affiliate tracking software… what is out there, how do you assess what package is most appropriate for your business, what are the pitfalls when trying to integrate off-the-rack software with your existing shopping cart and website. What do you think? Could you write about this?
